5x IS-2 Tanks

The IS (Iosif Stalin) heavy tank is often referred to as the “tank of victory” in Soviet sources. The development of the IS series of tanks started in late 1942 as a response to the performance of the German Tiger tanks, and then the arrival of the Panther in 1943 imparted further urgency.

The IS-2 heavy tank was designed to replace the aging KV tanks as the Guards’ heavy breakthrough units. The KV series were criticized by their crews for their low mobility, and lack of any heavier armament than that of the T-34 medium tank.

4x M18 Hellcat Tanks

The M18 76mm GMC tank destroyer was designed by Buick in Detroit, Michigan. Of all the tank destroyer models used by the US Army, the M18 was the only one purpose-built for the TD men, taking aboard feedback in the field.

The number one request was speed, so the M18 was designed with a unique suspension system and stripped down to only the minimum armour needed to stop rifle fire. It used the same 9-cylinder engine found in a Sherman tank, but since the M18 weighed only 20 tons compared to the Sherman’s 35 tons, it could race along roads at an impressive 50mph (80km/h). This led to the vehicle’s unofficial nickname, the Hellcat.

3x M24 Chaffee Tanks

The development of the M24 Chaffee can trace its origins back to feedback from British forces fighting in the desert and their experience with the M3 Stuart. The Stuart’s 37mm cannon lacked the power to knock out early Panzers with rounds “bouncing off like marbles”.

The first M24s arrived in Europe in 1944 and were issued to Cavalry Reconnaissance Squadrons as a replacement for their aging Stuart tanks.

4x M36 Jackson Tanks

As German tanks became harder to deal with, the tank destroyer arm decided to up-gun their M10s with the M3 90mm anti-aircraft gun. A larger turret was designed to hold the new weapon and a power motor installed to rotate it.

The US home front converted over 1300 M10A1 chassis (based on the M4A3 Sherman chassis) and designated the new vehicle as the M36 90mm GMC. The destroyer quickly took on the nickname “Jackson” among the troops.

5x T-54-1 or T-44 Tanks

The T-44 was heavily influential on the design of the T-54-1, the first model of the T-54 main battle tank. However, the T-44 still used the same 85mm tank gun as the T-34-85 medium tank. The Soviet army wanted a tank armed with a more powerful 100mm gun.

Shortly after the T-44 design was completed, unsuccessful efforts were made to fit the 100mm gun to the T-44 turret. Instead, a new roomier turret that could fit the larger gun was designed. In addition to the improved firepower, designers were able to increase the turret and hull armour.

Maximum Apocalypse is a cooperative roguelike adventure game for 1-6 players. In Maximum Apocalypse, civilization has already fallen. The players are survivors of the apocalypse whose mission is to survive the hostile landscape. The game map is randomly generated and different every time that you play. On each turn, a player can use up to four actions to explore the map, play cards, equip weapons, scavenge for resources, draw cards, or battle off monsters.

Picking a unique survivor class within the group, players must plan their strategy while leaning on their character’s strengths in order to defeat monsters and avoid starvation. For example, the Fireman is deadly up close with his ax. Meanwhile, the stealthy Hunter is great at scouting the map and avoiding traps.

When Elsa von Frühlingfeld presented her invention to King Frederik Augustus II of Saxony, people thought it was trickery. She used the recently isolated element Uranium to heat up a jar of water and used the resulting steam to power an engine that kept the Uranium active via a process she called “atomization.” Her device, the Nucleum, ushered in a new era of energy and prosperity over the next decades. Saxony went from a minor regional power to the hub of European science and engineering. Now, a generation later, factories are still hungry for more power, demanding bigger and more Nucleums to be built, more Uranium imported from the nearby country of Bohemia, and railways and power lines built across the country to carry the tamed power of the atoms to Saxony’s great cities. Inventors, engineers, and industrialists flock to the Saxon court, vying to be the leader in this new industrial revolution.

Nucleum is a heavy euro board game in which players take role of industrialists trying to succeed during the economic and technological boom of 19th-century Saxony, fueled by the invention and spread of the Nucleum (a nuclear reactor).

Players earn victory points by developing their networks, building and powering urban buildings, securing contracts, and meeting milestones (randomized endgame goals). Each player also gets unique asymmetric technologies, giving them special powers when unlocked. Gameplay is continuous; players take turns one after another with no rounds or phases.

On your turn, choose a die to gain the number of corresponding resources equal to the value of the die, then perform the associated action. The power of the action is inversely proportional to the value of the die, so the fewer resources you gain, the more powerful the actions you take and vice versa.
